ZEN IN MOVEMENT
To understand Zen in Movement we need to visualize it as a triangle.
At each end of the triangle, we find each of the 3 Zen pillars:
ZEN MEDITATION ZEN PATIENCE ZEN ACTION
The spiritual path of life will take us through ups and downs, in Zen there is no difference. In order for us to go downhill with the wind, we must first go uphill against the slope.
The first step in our path starts with Zen Meditation, in it we will learn how to breath and concentrate. With determination and continued repetition, we will develop the Zen Patience necessary to develop the skills needed to reach Zen Action and apply it with total calmness and control.
In this triangle we identify Zen in Movement in its four states: SHIN-KI-WAZA (Mind, Energy and Body) and JIPSU (Environment and knowledge)
ZEN IN ZAZEN = SITTING MEDITATION
When we sit to do Zen Meditation we will gradually access our inner being through a lengthy mental journey. We will begin to feel the void and start separating and selecting thoughts, thus increasing the freedom of progressing, to reach our inner peace and tranquility. Our emotions will grow and we will be able to control them in Zazen.
ZEN IN SHI ZEN TAI = MOVING MEDITATION
We will learn to meditate while standing and moving. We will learn to focus our mind on what we are doing through breathing techniques in movement with absolute concentration. This will allow us to dominate the movement and achieve control in how we implement our response. We will amplify the experience of moving mentally and physically, through the strengthening of the union of energy with mind and body.
Jipsu is absolute mental control of our environmental surroundings, where and how we live, what we do and how to be ready to react to external stimulus. It controlling what our senses perceive, being ready to react, also the way of living every moment. Jipsu is the control which we exert over situations which we have created in our environment, in the past, the present and the future.
ZEN IN MOVEMENT IN GOLF
Zen in Golf is meditation, while moving in Golf. We will have our swing acquire all the characteristics of a professional swing; this means that you will be able to control your mental and physical emotion at the exact point needed and achieve the desired shot. Golf is 100% mental; it is managing your body to make the correct swing as we had planned, but this can only be achieved by controlling our mind, thoughts, nerves, concentration, tempo and impact. We will teach our bodies to move accordingly to achieve our game strategy.
